Through residential, intensive outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), JourneyPure Knoxville provides optimal care for men and women struggling with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health issues.
Across our facilities, we provide integrated, evidence-based treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues. Under a dual diagnosis model, a multi-disciplinary team comprised of a primary physician and psychiatrist work in tandem to address the addiction and any mental health disorders that exist such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bi-polar disorder.
By participating in individual, group, and experiential therapies and other treatment modalities, our addiction therapists help provide the tools necessary to cope with life challenges, repair broken relationships, and rediscover the person you were before addiction took hold.
Specialized Women’s Services
According to the Tennessee Department of Health, Tennessee has seen nearly a ten-fold rise in the incidence of babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), a condition where newborns experience withdrawal symptoms due to the mother’s drug use during pregnancy. The highest rate of NAS births is seen in East Tennessee.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment at JourneyPure Knoxville
When someone has a substance use disorder and is also living with a mental health disorder, such as depression, anxiety or PTSD, it is called a dual diagnosis. Co-occurring mental health conditions and substance use disorders affect 9 million Americans each year, yet only 7 percent receive treatment for both.
Our clinicians stand by research that suggests treating both the addiction and mental health disorder at the same time is more conducive to long-term sobriety. At JourneyPure Knoxville, each patient is greeted by a team of medical and psychiatric professionals as well as therapists and social workers who work together to determine the best course of treatment. Individual, group, and experiential therapies help our patients work through deep-rooted psychological issues while providing the tools for patients to be able to continue the work outside of treatment.
We also aim to bring the body, mind, and spirit back to its original state, or even better, by implementing a health plan during treatment. We incorporate the three pillars of health—sleep, nutrition and exercise—into every program. All are essential in providing the body the nutrients and rest it needs. And exercise is a known anti-depressant, so adding a daily dose is not only good for one’s physical appearance, but good for the soul.
